A Folk Festival Wedding

When Emma and Mark approached me in June to plan their folk festival inspired wedding, I was very excited! I love short lead times as you get right into planning all aspects of the day so quickly, right down to the small details. With a shared love of folk music, nature and the outdoors, it was easy to see which direction the day should go. A folk festival wedding it was – with a ceiligh to boot and an accordionist! We prayed for outdoor weather so that the ceremony could be held under a beautiful oak tree in a neighbours field and we got what we wanted – a fantastic fresh September day. The simplicity of the wedding really set it apart for me – the whole look was elegant, crisp and with an array of jewel-coloured flowers provided by Emma’s Mum. To top it off the 33 children at the wedding were completely spoilt with an all day and night creche tent provided by The Little Top (we love Susie – she’s simply brilliant – www.thelittletop.co.uk).

The couple are not very traditional (like us!) and so they enjoyed a humanist ceremony and walked up to the ceremony together, with Emma in a stunning cornflower blue dress!

I’ll let the pictures do the talking. They were taken by the fabulously talented Maureen De Preez (www.maureendupreezphoto.com) and they really show the relaxed country atmosphere that epitomised the day.
